DignityUSA Convention 2009 Set for San Francisco July 2-5, 2009

We are invited to join in “Together We Will Reach the Promised Land: Celebrating 40 Years of DignityUSA,” in San Francisco July 2-5, 2009 for the 19th DignityUSA biennial convention.

On the occasion of DignityUSA’s 40th anniversary, we encourage you to come early and celebrate LGBT pride and freedom during San Francisco’s amazing Pride Weekend (June 27-28), or stay after the convention to enjoy the many attractions the Bay Area offers.  The Convention will be held at the beautiful Parc 55 Hotel, located in the heart of downtown San Francisco near the Powell Muni/BART Station on Market Street, convenient to all forms of public transportation.  The incredible convention rate of $119/night (single or double) is available for several days before and after our convention to make your vacation more affordable.

In addition to our keynote addresses by Mary Hunt and Richard Rodriguez, registrants will be able to select from over 20 workshops reflecting the rich diversity of our Dignity community (see a partial list elsewhere in this brochure). Conventioneers will also revel in the spectacular opening ceremonies, live entertainment, and our traditional Saturday night dinner-dance.  We will have ample opportunity to pray together in liturgies that celebrate our sacramental heritage and identity in new and creative ways.  Our convention will also reflect on our journey over these first 40 years, and will anticipate where the path might lead us in the years ahead.  There will be a chance to live out our Gospel faith through a special community service program, and we are also pleased to offer a two-day excursion to California’s famous Sonoma wine country and to the gay resort area on the Russian River.

This historic gathering will provide an excellent introduction to the Dignity movement for newcomers as well as a wonderful reunion for long-time Dignity members.  We encourage you to register early to take advantage of the special rates.

We look forward to welcoming you this summer!

Mark Matson, President, DignityUSA
Marianne Duddy-Burke, Executive Director, DignityUSA
Paul Riofski and Veronica Abrickis, Co-Chairs, Dignity/San Francisco
